The MC Chatman Center for Humanitarian Services presents the 2022 Multi Music Fest 'THE LEGENDS OF JAZZ II' featuring Spyro Gyra, Hiroshima & Roy Ayers.
Spyro Gyra has long been known to its peers in the contemporary jazz world as a “well oiled road machine” due to its relentless schedule of over 45 years of performing. To date, they have logged more than 10,000 shows on six continents and released 35 albums, garnering platinum and gold records along the way. Spyro Gyra rose from humble beginnings in Buffalo, New York in 1974 to their current international prominence in the jazz world. Every year, they continue to exhibit how to remain among a relative handful of artists who are able to look forward to 50 years in the business. Their energy and joy in concert match their unmatched musicality.
Since galvanizing the instrumental music world with its unique East meets West approach in the late 70s, Hiroshima has always kept its eye on a distinctive One World philosophy which seamlessly blends Asian and North American culture to reflect both cultural and spiritual connections. For more than 20 years, the band showcased a unique combination of distinctively Japanese elements-June Kuramoto's classical flavored koto, Johnny Mori's booming taiko drum-with funky pop, urban and jazz sensibilities first hit the instrumental music charts, and 25 years since saxophonist and East L.A. native Dan Kuramoto, along with June, first formed the ensemble.
As the number one vibraphone player and one of the most sampled artists in history, jazz musician Roy Ayers, Ubiquity performs live jazz shows and concerts throughout New York, New York and nationwide. Vibraphonist and vocalist Roy Ayers is among the best-known and most respected jazz and R&B artists on the scene.
