Doan Brook Trio
TUESDAY CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
The Doan Brook Trio is a collaboration of three colleagues deeply rooted in the Cleveland music scene: Martin Neubert on oboe, Alix Reinhardt on clarinet, and Ian Hoy on bassoon. As immigration has taken center stage in politics, Ian Hoy, the founding member, dives into the mystery of his own family immigration story. A family letter to France from New York on the inauguration of the Statue of Liberty is the inspiration for this performance. Classical, Romantic, and modern French works will be prevalent, as well as something unexpected. Family history is full of surprises.
Martin Neubert is Principal Oboe of the BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, Warren Philharmonic and Opera Western Reserve. He is also a member of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and the Cleveland Chamber Symphony. He has taught on the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music and has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra at both Severance Hall and the Blossom Music Festival.
Clarinetist Alix Reinhardt currently holds positions with the Canton Symphony, Wheeling Symphony, Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Ballet orchestras. Alix has also performed with several other orchestras including Pittsburgh Symphony, Opera Cleveland, Akron Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Charleston Symphony (SC), Richmond Symphony. She is also a member of Renaissance City Winds in Pittsburgh.
Ian Hoy is currently Principal Bassoon with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra. Locally, he enjoys performing with the Toledo Symphony, Cleveland Pops, Akron Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Mansfield Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, Firelands Symphony, and touring shows at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square. Mr. Hoy is the adjunct bassoon professor at Ashland University and has been teaching beginners to adults in Northeast Ohio for 10 years. His students have played in the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, Contemporary Youth Orchestra, and Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra. In addition, Mr. Hoy teaches students online and created “That’s A Wrap Reed Co.,” an online store, where he makes hand crafted bassoon reeds.
